The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
